Legacy Indy Lights 100

Now in its twelfth season, the Firestone Indy Lights is an essential stepping stone for drivers and teams striving to compete in the IZOD IndyCar Series and the Indianapolis 500. Teams compete for nearly $4 million in prize money in cars that are second only in speed to the IZOD IndyCar Series at most tracks they visit. In 2013, their thirteen race schedule is comprised of oval superspeedways, temporary street courses and permanent road courses.

Racers will compete using single-seat, open-wheel, Indy car-style vehicles manufactured by Dallara Automobili and powered by 3.5 liter, normally-aspirated, 90-degree V-8 spec engines, capable of 420 horsepower at 8,200 rpm and speeds up to 190 mph on superspeedways. The tires are purpose-built, high performance Firestone Firehawk racing slicks and rain tires, manufactured by Firestone./p>

Legacy Credit Union is the proud sponsor of the Legacy Indy Lights 100 race, scheduled for April 7 just prior to the main event, the Honda Indy Grand Prix of Alabama.
