Now in its 13th season, the Indy Lights presented by Cooper Tires is an essential stepping stone for drivers and teams striving to compete in the IndyCar Series and the Indianapolis 500. Teams compete for nearly $4 million in prize money in cars that are second only in speed to the IndyCar Series at most tracks they visit. In 2013, their thirteen race schedule is comprised of oval superspeedways, temporary street courses and permanent road courses.
Racers will compete using single-seat, open-wheel, Indy car-style vehicles manufactured by Dallara Automobili and powered by 3.5 liter, normally-aspirated, 90-degree V-8 spec engines, capable of 420 horsepower at 8,200 rpm and speeds up to 190 mph on superspeedways. Purpose-built, high performance racing slicks and rain tires will be supplied by Cooper Tires
Legacy Credit Union is the proud sponsor of the Legacy Indy Lights 100. In 2014, Indy Lights hosted a double header during the weekend, racing on both Saturday and Sunday.
